    Where neck pain comes from?

Neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints among Americans today.

Although it isn’t a large area of the body the neck is composed of many complicated structures. These structures can be injured or damaged and cause neck pain due to a variety of reasons. If left untreated, acute neck pain can turn into chronic neck pain. Chronic neck pain usually occurs due to untreated injuries and poor posture (ex. Sitting at a desk working on a computer 8 hours a day).

Here is a list of the common causes of neck pain:

    • Whiplash and Traumas
    • Poor posture
    • Repetitive stress
    • Joint Issues
    • Muscles strains
    • Arthritis

All the issues listed above can affect the alignment of the spine or can be caused by improper alignment of the spine. Due to misalignment the nerves entering and exiting the spine become irritated increasing the tension and pain you may be feeling.

How Chiropractic Can help with Neck Pain

Because almost all neck issues are caused by or cause misalignments in the neck a chiropractic treatment starts with a thorough evaluation that will rule out other possible causes of your neck pain and examine your spine for issues of misalignment.

The assessment will determine the exact type of treatment that is necessary for the specific issue at the root of the pain. Using gentle and non-invasive techniques a chiropractor is able to adjust the spine back to its proper position. Although the adjustments themselves may seem subtle, they often can provide almost instant relief and restore your long-term health.
